Versace pour Homme Oud Noir is an Eau de Parfum flanker of the masculine Versace pour Homme, launched by the Italian house in 2013 around oud wood. This spicy woody opens with bitter orange, neroli and black pepper, moves through a heart of cardamom, saffron and olibanum, and settles on oud, patchouli and leatherwood.
The critique compares it to Versace Man, the house's earlier masculine, of which it would offer a more luxurious version; its oud reads mainly as a peppery, smoky wood, softened by neroli and lifted by a fine incense.

An upgrade of Versace Man
Varanis Ridari (The Scented Devil) finds it very close to Versace Man, a 2003 masculine now discontinued, to the point of seeing in it a reprise of that idea in a more luxurious guise.
For Varanis Ridari, the announced oud reads mainly as a peppery wood, in the spirit of Creed's Royal Oud, and the opening combines peppery woods and smoke with unexpected clarity.
Neroli and bitter orange come to soften this opening, saffron and cardamom remain present, and an incense compared to those of Amouage is judged the finest raw material in the composition.
The review notes a decent longevity that fades after two hours, and presents the fragrance as a more affordable alternative to Royal Oud.
