Lattafa places Qaed Al Fursan, a unisex eau de parfum whose Arabic name means “leader of the horsemen,” among its aromatic fragrances. Pineapple and saffron open onto a heart of balsam fir and jasmine, over a base of amber, cedar and oud; Unlimited and Untamed are two variations on it, one tropical, the other spicy.
The house publishes a three-tier pyramid: pineapple and saffron at the top; balsam fir and jasmine at the heart; amber, cedar and oud at the base.
Pineapple and saffron
Pineapple brings a juicy, tangy fruit, which saffron, a leathery spice with honeyed accents, darkens from the opening. This contrast between bright fruit and warm spice gives the start of the fragrance its relief.
Balsam fir and jasmine
Balsam fir, a North American conifer, brings a resinous, balsamic note with woody, slightly candied accents. Jasmine softens it with a floral touch, and the tier stays more aromatic than floral, in keeping with the family the house claims.
Amber, cedar and oud
Amber warms the base, cedar gives it a dry, woody line, and oud, the resinous wood of the agar tree, adds its smoky, animalic depth.
What the label declares
The ingredient list declared for the European market names, after alcohol, fragrance and water, six components subject to declaration: linalool, hydroxycitronellal, limonene, coumarin, oakmoss extract (Evernia prunastri) and citronellol.
