Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, the perfumer and creator of Parfum d’Empire, explained to Flair Flair in 2014 the reasons for this passion he nurtures for scents: then, Corsica — my father was originally from the Ajaccio region — where we would spend all our vacations. Later, I lived there. I took over our small family house, right in the middle of the maquis, and spending time there allows me to bear a great many things.

This explains why, in a great many Parfum d’Empire fragrances, we find the scents of this Corsica, such as the mastic of Corsica Furiosa, the wine-lees accord of Salute!, and of course the immortelle that we found among the notes of Eau de Gloire but also as the undisputed star of Immortelle Corse.

Immortelle Corse was thus designed by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato as a tribute to this flowering maquis he discovered upon arriving on the island at the start of summer, and to these immortelle flowers, sometimes honeyed, sometimes woody, that intoxicated him.

Discovering the many faces of the immortelle flower with Immortelle Corse

The great strength of Immortelle Corse lies not only in its colorful picture, which plays on the yellow color of the immortelle flower to reveal fruity and spicy notes of the same color, and which was inspired in the perfumer by a chef friend. It also lies, of course, in this immortelle flower, which reveals itself through rather striking contrasts between powdery delicacy and animalic strength, gourmand character and wood.

Immortelle fascinates me. It overtakes my corner of the Corsican maquis, where I spend a great deal of time. I wanted its brilliance at the summer solstice, when it is filled with sun, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato says about Immortelle Corse.

Thus, with Immortelle Corse, this journey through the Isle of Beauty begins with the color yellow, that sun yellow that colors the fresh citrus trees, that yellow that colors the fruits, that yellow that also colors the flowers. This is how the top notes of Immortelle Corse open in bursts of sparkling, fresh lemon, wrapped in a juicy apricot tinted with the warmth of spices to become even a little warmer. At the heart, it is of course the immortelle flower that offers its sugared splendor, delicately spicy but also beautifully powdery, like a delicate and very feminine flower. Finally, the flower reveals itself in contact with the depths of oakmoss, far more animalic than ever, leaving us still with the idea that immortelle has so much more to tell us about the personality of this singular Corsica.
