Green Tea (1999) is the translation into perfume of a lemon iced tea, signed Francis Kurkdjian before he founded his own house. Lemon, bergamot, mint and rhubarb open onto a heart of jasmine and carnation; green tea, oakmoss and spices close it. A clear aromatic citrus, short in longevity, that has become a classic of accessible perfumery.
An elongated, transparent glass that reveals a light green juice, tinted by three colorants, with a tea leaf engraved as a watermark.
The bottle says almost everything before it is even sprayed. Transparent glass, an elongated silhouette, unadorned lines: the object is designed so the juice can be seen, and the juice is light green.
This tint is not an optical effect. The perfume's regulatory list mentions three colorants, a blue, a green and a yellow, added to give the solution the color of an infusion. Container and content say the same thing.
A stylized tea leaf is engraved on the front, discreet, barely more than a watermark. It is this detail that made the graphic fortune of the range: every flanker keeps it and simply changes the background color and the fruit illustrated. The motif has become the identity of the line far more than its name.
