Ébène Fumé, by Tom Ford, was released in 2021. The spicy, peppery incense opens the composition with black pepper and violet leaf, before a heart of rose, labdanum and leather, then a base of guaiac wood, resin and ebony.
Incense, spicy and dusty, black pepper, dry and dusty as well, and violet leaf, green and earthy, occupy the top: incense and pepper share the same dry dustiness that violet crosses on a green register.
Rose, warm and honeyed, labdanum, amber and animalic, and leather, smoky and dry, meet in the heart; labdanum is the only animalic note there, while leather carries the smokiness.
Guaiac wood, smoky and balsamic, resin, amber and woody, and ebony, woody and warm, dominate the base: guaiac and resin cross over smoke and balsam, while ebony remains woody and warm.
