Carbon is a black chemical element that has been present on earth since its formation. It was produced at the very heart of stars before they exploded to form the solar system. It is precisely from this natural diamond that the house of Balmain drew inspiration to create its perfume named Carbone.

Virility according to Balmain
Since 2006, designer Christophe Decarnin has been at the head of the couture creation of the Balmain brand. He has strongly contributed to changing the house's image of virility. With him, men present themselves as sexier and more brooding than ever. Their attitude is a touch nonchalant while remaining very elegant. He is fond of black, a color emblematic of rock, of provocation, but also of sobriety. Balmain today displays a highly contrasted image, halfway between extravagance, design, avant-gardism and classicism. Its pieces seem cut in the image of a high-tech material… such as carbon! It came naturally to the mind of Balmain's designer. Indeed, it reflects contemporary man, at once urban, passionate about technology, resistant to the harshness of life, and light enough to be particularly dynamic. In other words, the perfume Carbone is the image of the man of our time. He is urbane and sophisticated. Likewise, beneath his mysterious air, he in fact conceals the soul of an irresistible seducer.
The scent of Carbone
But then, if we all know carbon for its lightness, particularly prized in cycling, what could it possibly correspond to in perfumery? It was perfumer Nathalie Lorson who was tasked with answering this question. Carbone opens with a very spicy, resinous facet. It combines Elemi with Bourbon pepper. It then moves toward a sun-drenched heart. This contains black Fig as well as Blackberry. Moreover, these ingredients typical of summer also give the whole a rather dark and mysterious character. Incense, for its part, adds depth to this composition. It diffuses its intense effluvia and gradually gives way to the captivating, sensual scent of Siam Benzoin and Musk. Of course, Carbone does not fail to underscore its masculinity. It closes on a captivating scent of Vetiver mingled with a Vanilla pod that is both black and enchanting. If Carbone is described as a very masculine perfume, its bottle is equally so. It is a heavy, thick glass cube revealing a golden juice through its transparency. This lends a refined touch to this case, topped with a very contemporary and elegant matte black cabochon.

Elemi resin in the top note forms a surprising and vibrant accord, spicy and sparkling. The heart is dominated by Violet leaf, Fig and green Ivy, a concentrate of elegance, refinement and modernity.
The base condenses an intense and textured accord, rich in sensuality thanks to notes of Benzoin and Musk.
The bottle's geometric lines echo the architectural spirit of Balmain's creations.
