Grapefruit

The citrus fruit that everyone commonly calls “grapefruit” is in fact a pomelo. Discovered almost 200 years ago, grapefruit is the only citrus fruit that is not native to Asia. Its texture is juicy and indulgent. Its pulp, brimming with juice, is more or less sweet and more or less tart depending on the variety. Grapefruit is rich in minerals and vitamin C. The United States is the largest producer of grapefruit, followed by Israel and Argentina. In France, it is found in the South as well as in Corsica, since grapefruit needs warmth to thrive.

Grapefruit, a tonic accord from the citrus family

The citrus family is the eldest of the olfactory families. It brings together all citrus fruits such as lemon, orange, mandarin and, of course, grapefruit. Here, fresh, fruity notes dominate. It can be said that grapefruit is the most tonic of them all. Tonic, exuberant but volatile, grapefruit is often found among the top notes. As with every perfume, one must wait to smell the heart notes before imagining the fragrance in its entirety. At first, citrus fragrances such as grapefruit were mainly intended for feminine perfumes. Today, grapefruit is found in many masculine perfumes, as is the case with Invictus by Paco Rabanne. Other fragrances and grapefruit

Over time, grapefruit accords have broadened. Floral notes were first incorporated, and the citrus-floral facet currently numbers many well-known perfumes. Grapefruit was then enriched with woody notes (sandalwood, patchouli), amber notes (vanilla, labdanum), aromatic notes (thyme, lavender) or even chypre notes (bergamot). The role of floral notes is to extend the grapefruit note, which is too volatile on its own. This is why grapefruit is often paired with flowers, as in Amor Amor by Cacharel.
