FloralParfums de Marly
Parfums de Marly was founded in 2009 by Julien Sprecher, born into a family of perfume professionals. The name comes from the Château de Marly, a residence of Louis XV, whose court was considered the most perfumed in Europe. Advent International has held the majority since June 2023; Julien Sprecher retains creative direction.

FougèreThe eighteenth century as a program
Julien Sprecher grew up in a family of perfume professionals: his father worked for major French houses. He founded his house in 2009 around the eighteenth century, held to be the golden age of perfumery, and the court of Louis XV, nicknamed the perfumed court.
The founder claims a perfumery in which the synthetic molecule holds the same place as the natural raw material, against the received idea that associates niche with all-natural. The catalog numbers more than thirty references.
Coustou’s horses on the bottle
The house emblem takes up the Chevaux de Marly, commissioned in 1743 by Louis XV from the sculptor Guillaume Coustou for the entrance to the château’s park. The date 1743 appears on the brand’s coat of arms, and two horses adorn the caps.
The rest of the packaging follows the same vein: crests in an eighteenth-century spirit, bottles treated as court objects. Delina and Layton are among the references that carried the house beyond France.
Advent, Initio and the Artessence group
On June 22, 2023, the American fund Advent International acquired the majority of the group founded by Julien Sprecher, valued at more than $700 million. The founder remains executive chairman, creative director and a significant minority shareholder.
The group also owns Initio Parfums Privés, a second house founded by Julien Sprecher. Renamed Artessence and led since 2026 by Patrice Béliard, it is approaching a billion dollars in sales, driven by the American and Middle Eastern markets.
