The history of the prestigious house Guerlain

It was in 1828 that Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain founded his first boutique. A perfumer, chemist, and inventor, he set up shop in the heart of the French capital, at 42 rue de Rivoli. This address very quickly became the favorite place of elegant women and dandies. Guerlain offered bespoke perfume creations there while personalizing his customers' bottles. Moreover, the aura of the house of Guerlain grew considerably when Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain composed, in 1853, Eau de Cologne Impériale, presenting it to Empress Eugénie on the occasion of her marriage to Napoleon III. Furthermore, the house of Guerlain has always managed to reinvent itself throughout its history. It is behind the famous Guerlinade, a scent that has since become cult, combining bergamot, rose, jasmine, tonka bean, and vanilla. Thierry Wasser, Guerlain's official perfumer

While all the perfumers who succeeded one another at Guerlain bore the name of this family, it is now Thierry Wasser who holds the position of the house's official nose, since 2008. His appointment owes everything to his talent and nothing to any blood ties with the brand. He strives to carry on Guerlain's weighty tradition and to maintain unmatched quality in each of his creations. Moreover, he manages to combine the spirit of Guerlain with his own personal touch. It is to him that the world owes, among others, La Petite Robe Noire, one of the greatest successes of contemporary perfumery. Following five generations of perfumers and a worthy heir to an olfactory catalog of more than 800 fragrances, Thierry Wasser is the new conductor of Guerlain's scents. He is eager for discovery and does not hesitate to travel the world in search of novel raw materials. Even today, Guerlain is regarded as one of the greatest luxury houses, both French and worldwide.
