Clément Gavarry
The profession of perfumer is a particularly demanding one. It requires numerous qualities, such as a sharpened sense of smell combined with advanced knowledge of chemistry. This field, reserved to few people in the world, is also most often passed down from generation to generation. Clément Gavarry is no exception to this tradition and himself comes from a family working in the perfume industry. Clément Gavarry's contrasting childhood Clément Gavarry was not born in Grasse but in Paris, in January 1977. Nevertheless, his roots are deeply anchored in the world of Grasse and its flowers. Indeed, he comes from a family that worked in the perfume industry. His grandfather was a farmer and lavender distiller in Grasse.
It was therefore only natural that Clément Gavarry was introduced to scents at a very early age. Likewise, his other grandfather was a gardener for Chanel, and his father, Max Gavarry, was himself a perfumer. It was therefore only logical that Clément Gavarry followed this path, a true family legacy. He still remembers the long walks he took with his elders through fields filled with the scent of jasmine and rose. He was also introduced at a very early age to the various techniques of scent distillation. As a result, he had no trouble earning a degree in chemistry. However, Clément Gavarry is also passionate about sailing. He has always held a genuine fascination for the ocean. This is why he was at first more interested in the boat or aircraft industry. Yet it was an internship at the New York office of IFF, in 1998, that made him change his plans. He was literally fascinated by the profession of nose, and it was thus that he definitively took this path.
Clément Gavarry's career path
Now convinced of his new vocation, Clément Gavarry joined the Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l'Aromatique Alimentaire in Versailles, a prestigious school better known as ISIPCA. He also completed this initial training with a course at IFF's Perfumery School, in 2004. To this day, he still works at IFF, a company in which he quickly distinguished himself for his extraordinary expertise. He was in fact awarded the Rising Star prize, in 2006, in the Corporate Fragrance category. Clément Gavarry possesses an extraordinary sensibility and has the ability to combine in his fragrances an unbridled passion with unmatched technique. He has an instinctive approach and a unique taste for scents. His style is both versatile and comfortable, and Clément Gavarry thus stands out as one of the most promising talents of his generation.
Although he is still at the beginning of his career, Clément Gavarry has already collaborated with other great perfumers on several major projects for Prada, Chloé and Tom Ford.
