Antoine Maisondieu
Grasse is a city on the Côte d'Azur known for being the world capital of perfumery, and whose town center buzzes around several major fragrance creation houses. In fact, more than 10 % of the local population is employed by the perfume industry. Also, the profession of nose is one that is most often passed down from generation to generation, as was the case in the family of Antoine Maisondieu. Antoine Maisondieu's prestigious genealogy Antoine Maisondieu comes from an extraordinary family. He is the grandson of Albert Camus and also the youngest of a line of perfumers.
Yet he did not immediately give in to the call of the nose profession. Indeed, a film enthusiast and passionate about photography, he initially intended to pursue a career in photography or film. Nevertheless, he eventually followed the family path, finding in perfumery another way to express his creativity. Thus, he attended the prestigious Roure perfumery school in Grasse, from which he graduated. Following this, he began his career as a perfumer at Givaudan. This led him to leave his home region to move to Paris. Currently, Antoine Maisondieu is still part of this major company's staff and there he most often creates masculine fragrances. The reputation of this house allows him to work with the greatest luxury houses without ever forgetting to bring his own singularity to each of his new creations.
Antoine Maisondieu's atypical signature
Although Antoine Maisondieu ultimately chose the path of perfumery, he has not forgotten his love of film. Thus, he has made the films of Visconti or Kubrick a true source of inspiration. He uses fragrances to develop his original and singular vision of the world. Antoine Maisondieu has a highly artistic approach to perfumery. He works mainly with his heart and his sensations. He states in this regard: I work, I smell, and I continue until the product provides an emotion. Thus, since he is particularly fond of Chopin, he creates a perfumery as nuanced as the works of this great classical pianist. Likewise, when asked which painting he most identifies with, he does not hesitate to answer: A fresco from Pompeii. As one will have understood, Antoine Maisondieu is an explosive and colorful character who holds a special place among the noses behind today's new scents. Moreover, he is married to a perfumer, Shyamala Maisondieu, which allows him to further enrich his creative process through the creative complementarity he shares with his wife.
Antoine Maisondieu is a character who loves to create, take risks and experiment. We owe him a great many masterpieces, and he has notably had the opportunity to collaborate with the houses Versace, Victoria's Secret, Van Cleef & Arpels, Tom Ford, Paul Smith, Lanvin, Gucci, Armani, Comme des Garçons, Burberry, Etat Libre d'Orange, Boucheron and Balmain.
