Velvet Petals

Classified among gourmands with a fruity facet, Velvet Petals combines almond and praline with a base of sandalwood and musk. Launched by Victoria's Secret in 2019, it makes gourmand character its throughline: powderiness and sweetness of almond, toasted sugar and hazelnut of praline, velvety warmth of wood in the base.

The almond heart

Almond brings a powdery, sweet and distinctly gourmand note, that of almond paste or marzipan. Praline extends this idea of confectionery: toasted sugar, bits of almond and roasted hazelnut, with that caramelized character typical of dried fruits coated in cooked sugar.

A base of wood and musk

Sandalwood provides a woody, velvety and warm material, with a creamy grain. Musk adds its own warmth, with a woody accent and an animalic touch, that warm roundness evoking clean skin or soft fabric.

Gourmand, with a touch of fruit

The gourmand family draws from the register of dessert, and praline as well as almond are direct figures of it. The fruity facet finds support in almond, the seed of a stone fruit, whose odor also recalls cherry and apricot kernel.

What the label declares

Vanillin, the key molecule of vanilla, and coumarin, with its odor of hay and tonka bean, join the register of praline and almond. Rose ketones, or damascones, have a fruity rose odor. Hexamethylindanopyran is a synthetic musk, and tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalene has a woody, amber odor.
