Bare is an eau de parfum for women launched by Victoria’s Secret in July 2022, the house’s first major new fragrance in five years, signed by Nathalie Benareau and Carlos Viñals of Symrise. Built on an exclusive blend of musks, this woody floral opens on Madagascar mandarin, sets Egyptian violet petals at its heart and rests on Australian sandalwood.

Where to buy

Victoria’s Secret unveiled Bare on July 18, 2022 and put it on sale the next day in the United States, ahead of a worldwide release on August 23. It is the first pillar of its fine fragrance line in five years, made with upcycled materials and responsibly sourced ingredients.

The house presents it as its most intimate fragrance: an exclusive blend of musks that adapts to each person’s body chemistry to create a signature of their own. Bare is also the first fragrance to use Cryptosym, a Symrise technology that encrypts the formula against copying.

Bare comes as an eau de parfum in 7, 50 and 100 ml, as a fragrance mist and in body care. It has since given rise to a family of variations, including Bare Rose, Bare Magnolia, Bare Sueded Vanilla and Bare Nectar.

What critics say

Isabella Muse (Musings of a Muse) sees Bare as one of Victoria’s Secret’s best releases in a long time: a clean, warm and cozy skin scent, barely sweet, that feels luxurious to her.

The advertising

Women as they are

Zoe Ghertner photographs activists, herbalists, artists and creatives, styled by Camilla Nickerson, for the 2022 launch.

The launch campaign, photographed by Zoe Ghertner and styled by Camilla Nickerson, brings together women from varied backgrounds: activists, herbalists, artists and creatives. It aims to capture each one’s individuality, true to the idea of a perfume that adapts to the skin.

Among them are Abrielle Stedman, Celeste Romero, Cali Rand and Courtney Coll. Victoria’s Secret sees in it the expression of a quiet confidence, the kind that comes from knowing oneself.
