Halfeti

The first installment in a line that Penhaligon's extended in 2020 with Halfeti Leather and Halfeti Cedar, Halfeti was released in 2015 as an Eau de Parfum, composed by Christian Provenzano. Its name refers to a village in Turkey known for its black roses. Rose, jasmine and oud form its heart, set on a base of vanilla, leather, sandalwood and tonka bean.

Aromatic opening

Mugwort brings a herbaceous note with camphor accents, which cypress extends with a woody freshness. Bergamot gives a fruity and slightly sweet brightness. Saffron introduces spices with hints of leather and tar, while cardamom plays a sharp, fresh spice.

Rose and oud

Rose appears warm, honeyed, almost waxy; jasmine answers it with a sweet softness with a wild edge. Oud, woody and animalic, carries a breath of incense. Nutmeg slips in a woody warmth shot through with freshness, and grapefruit revives the tier with a fruity citrus touch.

Woody, amber base

Sweet, spicy vanilla, tonka bean with tones of toasted almond and caramel, amber resin make up the warm part. Leather evokes smoke, tar and tobacco. Velvety sandalwood, cedar with the scent of pencil shavings, animalic musk and earthy, damp, camphorous patchouli form the base of the accord.

A floral oriental

The oriental register, retained here, rests on warm, enveloping materials: vanilla, tonka bean, resin, oud and saffron set the tone. Rose and jasmine, very present at the heart tier, add a floral dimension that also explains the case for the floral family.

What the label declares

The list declares coumarin, a molecule with the scent of hay and almond found in tonka bean, as well as citronellol and eugenol, common constituents of rose essence. Limonene and citral are associated with citrus, linalool with bergamot; cinnamal recalls cinnamon.
