Zoé Costes and Nino Amaddeo founded the Réminiscence brand, drawing on their travels and their various inspirations. Zoé and Nino met in the 1960s, at the height of the hippie movement. Zoé was a hairdresser while Nino was a photographer. Their shared love of travel brought them together. At first, Réminiscence, which the couple created together in 1970, was like a great bazaar filled with scent and original jewelry. Little by little, Zoé Costes began to develop great fragrances, including the wonderful Patchouli. This fragrance would carry forward the spirit of freedom of the 1970s.

Patchouli is a true legend in the history of perfumery. Originally, patchouli is a tropical plant grown mainly in Indonesia. In many countries, patchouli is used for medicinal purposes. In perfumery, patchouli made its mark on the great Parisian boulevards in the early 19th century. Indeed, it was there that cashmere shawls from India and Indonesia were sold. To protect them from moths, the shawls were coated in patchouli. Against all expectations, it was precisely for its scent that women bought patchouli!
