Lignum Idealis is a unisex eau de parfum launched in 2025 by Gucci in the Alchemist's Garden collection, signed by Alexis Grugeon. Belonging to the woody spicy olfactory family, it pays homage to the giant sequoia, one of the largest trees in the world. The house claims an extract obtained through headspace technology, as well as the presence of a “dreamwood” note, to evoke the majesty and depth of the ancient forest.
Juniper berries, green and peppery, sit alongside black pepper, spicy and piquant, in the top notes: the two registers meet on the same peppery liveliness that brings them close without blending into one.
Cypress and incense share the heart; camphor unites them on this same axis, while the wax of the incense stands apart from the drier wood of the cypress.
Sandalwood, cedar and vetiver dominate the base, all three woody: the velvety quality of the sandalwood, the pencil-shaving character of the cedar and the smokiness of the vetiver render this shared wood across three different textures.
