Wave for Him

Hollister arranges the notes of Wave for Him on three tiers: bamboo leaves, yuzu and grapefruit at the top; cypress, lavender and neroli in the middle tier; tonka bean, musk and salty driftwood at the base. The house files it among woody fragrances.

The top

Bamboo leaves, yuzu and grapefruit give a green, citrus opening, which the house likens to the scents carried by the ocean breeze.

The middle tier

Lavender and neroli, which the house calls sun-kissed, form an aromatic, floral accord, lifted by cliffside cypress. The house sees in it an evocation of California’s rugged terrain.

The base

Tonka bean, musk and salty driftwood make up a creamy, warm base, meant, according to the house, to recall salt, sand and the warmth of the summer sun.

What the label declares

Denatured alcohol, water and fragrance open the list, ahead of three UV filters, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate and ethylhexyl salicylate, butylene glycol and three colorants, blue 1, red 33 and yellow 5.

The list also declares alpha-isomethyl ionone, citral, citronellol, geraniol, hydroxycitronellal, limonene, linalool and methyl 2-octynoate, out of eighteen ingredients.
