Tart lime, milky coconut and rum spiced with cinnamon and vanilla make up the standout materials of Virgin Island Water. Created by Creed in 2007 as an Eau de Parfum, the composition draws its claimed inspiration from the Caribbean islands and pairs a citrus opening with gourmand accents.
Three citrus notes in the opening
The accord opens on lime, acidic and lively, fresh and slightly bitter. Bergamot brings a fruity, sweet register, still fresh, while mandarin adds a sun-kissed, luminous sparkle to this citrus opening.
Flowers, coconut and ginger
The heart tier brings together ylang-ylang, powdery and fruity with its nail polish facet, and a warm, sweet, almost wild jasmine. Coconut lends a gourmand, sun-kissed, milky note; hibiscus, soft, leans toward musk, and ginger adds a prick of warm spice with citrus overtones.
A base of rum and tonka
In the base, rum evokes cinnamon, ginger and vanilla, while tonka bean brings toasted nuances of almond and caramel. Musk blending wood, warmth and an animalic accent, woody and camphoraceous ambergris, as well as soft, creamy woods, form the foundation of the composition.
Citrus and gourmand
The citrus family, built on citrus essences, relies here on lime, bergamot and mandarin. The gourmand facet, which evokes sweet, edible flavors, comes from milky coconut, vanilla-laced rum and caramelized tonka bean.
What the label declares
The list declares limonene and citral, molecules abundant in citrus peels and particularly in lime, as well as linalool, present in bergamot. Geraniol, citronellol and farnesol relate to floral notes; coumarin, a molecule with the scent of sweet hay, is the characteristic constituent of tonka bean.
