Repetto
Before being a matter of chemistry, perfumery is above all a highly creative art. As such, many fragrances today immerse wearers in an entire universe of their own. Feminine fragrances are most often woven with poetry and elegance. In this respect, they echo wonderfully the world of classical dance. It is therefore entirely logical that the house of Repetto ventured into perfume creation to accompany its loveliest ballet attire.

FloralThe evolution of the Repetto house over the decades
It was in 1947 that Rose Repetto, mother of the dancer and choreographer Roland Petit, created a pair of ballet flats for him. To do so, she used an innovative technique to craft a flexible, lightweight slipper. Her expertise very quickly became known, and Repetto met with resounding success. What is more, not content with captivating the world of classical dance, the house also ventured into fashion design. Brigitte Bardot became a fervent ambassador for the Repetto wardrobe. It was in fact she who asked the house to adapt its dance shoe for everyday use. This was done, and in 1956 Brigitte Bardot transformed the classic Repetto slipper into a city shoe that became an icon of Parisian style. Likewise, Repetto's jazz shoes for men also helped establish the reputation of this house, emblematic of the French capital. These were notably adored by the famous Zizi Jeanmaire and Serge Gainsbourg. Today, Repetto remains the most celebrated house in the world within the realm of classical dance. It can boast of shoeing wonderful prima ballerinas and thus adorning the greatest ballets on the planet.
Repetto fragrances
Perfume then seemed to be the ultimate missing touch to Repetto's work. Indeed, while the Parisian house originally worked only in the world of dance, it never ceased to expand its activity. Fragrances, however, appeared much later. The first of these was created in 2013. It managed to preserve the entire Repetto heritage, along with its values and its aesthetic sensibility, close to that of classical dance. Moreover, this fragrance chose as its face the sublime Dorothée Gilbert, principal dancer at the Paris Opera. This wildly addictive and delicate juice was also adapted into several versions. It appeared in a more intense concentration in the form of an Eau de Parfum in 2014, before becoming fresher and more floral in 2015.
Today, Repetto's success is such that the house produces 500,000 pairs of ballet flats annually. Perfume does not yet, of course, rival its footwear business, but it is already adored by many fans. Its future remains to be written. To be continued...
