Nicolas Bonneville

Nicolas Bonneville is a perfumer at Firmenich. He discovered perfumery as a teenager on a trip to Grasse, where he trained with perfumer Jacques Maurel in the Jean Carles method. After working at Takasago alongside Françoise Caron and Francis Kurkdjian, and at Fragrance Resources, he co-signed Prada’s Paradigme in 2025 with Marie Salamagne and Bruno Jovanovic.

A vocation born in Grasse

Nicolas Bonneville fell in love with perfumery as a teenager, on a trip to Grasse. There he met the Grasse perfumer Jacques Maurel, with whom he trained for several years following the Jean Carles method, and he keeps returning at harvest time for the plants and flowers.

From Takasago to Firmenich

He worked at Takasago alongside two master perfumers, Françoise Caron and Francis Kurkdjian, whom he describes as his teachers. He later joined the fragrance house Fragrance Resources, before moving to Firmenich, now dsm-firmenich, where he works today.

His sources of inspiration

Devoted to natural raw materials, he says he draws inspiration from pop art and street art, admiring the way they make emotions accessible to all. He sees fashion and perfumery as two closely linked worlds, made of style, expression, and intention.

On Olfastory

With Marie Salamagne and Bruno Jovanovic, he signed Paradigme Eau de Parfum, the men’s fragrance Prada launched in 2025: an ambery woody scent built in reverse, from base to top, around Bourbon geranium.
