Guillaume Flavigny

While some professions are primarily a means of earning a living, others are born from a genuine passion. Yet, as every perfumer will attest, the craft of fragrance creation must be a calling. Indeed, it requires multiple qualities. One must come from a scientific background, possess very advanced knowledge of raw materials, and have an exceptional artistic sense. This task is not given to everyone and requires years of work. Nevertheless, this did not discourage Guillaume Flavigny, a passionate creator who did everything possible to one day achieve his dream.

The overflowing ambition of Guillaume Flavigny

Unlike many perfumers, Guillaume Flavigny was not born in Grasse and did not grow up in a family from that milieu. Thus, as a teenager, he pursued an economic and social baccalaureate. However, he came across the perfume Que Sais-Je by Edmond Roudnitska one day and was literally fascinated by its scent. From then on, he set his mind on creating perfumes. This high schooler, fascinated by fragrances, decided to redirect his studies to join a scientific track. Indeed, this is a mandatory prerequisite for gaining access to the most prestigious perfumery schools. From there, he was able to enter the ISIPCA in Versailles, a highly renowned institution in this field, from which many perfumers now world-famous have graduated. True to his determination to commit to the world of perfumery, he joined the Bel Aesthète class of the school's MST program. Nevertheless, he did not stop there. Once he had earned his degree, Guillaume Flavigny decided to further expand his knowledge in order to put his overflowing creativity into practice. This is how he joined the Givaudan perfumery school, a leading company in the perfumery sector. He graduated in 2003, at the age of 27. From then on, he joined Givaudan's fine fragrance creation team in Paris.

The creations of Guillaume Flavigny

As soon as he was able to dedicate himself to this first perfume, Guillaume Flavigny had only one idea in mind: to evoke the same emotion he had felt upon discovering Que Sais-Je by Edmond Roudnitska. For him, a perfume is listened to as much as it is breathed in, and it is by the intensity of the emotion felt that its beauty is measured. Each of his compositions contains a skillful blend of musicality, pleasure, elegance, and love. Thus, he began his career at full speed, winning the Prix du Jeune Parfumeur outright in 2002 for his perfume Ambre Gris by Balmain. Since that day, Guillaume Flavigny has continued to produce remarkable compositions one after another. We owe him notably l'Eau de Sisley, Cèdre Olympe by Armani, Duo Men by Azzaro, and The One Sport by Dolce & Gabbana, in collaboration with perfumer Nathalie Gracia Cetto. Guillaume Flavigny proves to be a highly prolific perfumer whose compositions continue to multiply. The latest one to date was created for the Elizabeth Arden brand and is called White Tea.
