Career
A graduate of ISIPCA in 1983, Dorothée Piot worked for many years at Dragoco, now Symrise, before joining Robertet, where she works in Paris. There she composes for niche houses as well as major brands, from Amouage and Olfactive Studio to Mugler, Kilian and Escada.
She loves chypre, which she compares to a walk in a garden, and defends its sensuality despite restrictions on materials. She says she finds training for the sense of smell in cooking. She works on several projects at once, and readily lets herself be guided by a work of art rather than a long brief.
Creations
Christopher Chong, creative director of Amouage, chose her together with Daniel Maurel for Memoir Woman, a chypre. For Chambre Noire by Olfactive Studio, her only brief was a photo of a hotel room in Cairo. For Sculptures Olfactives, she started from a sculpture by Claude Justamon.
Angel Eau Sucrée came out in 2014 as a limited summer edition: a red fruit sorbet and a caramelized meringue over a base of vanilla and patchouli, more gourmand than Angel. For the launch, Fauchon devised an Angel éclair. For Amouage, she also created Fate Woman in 2013, a chypre with oriental accents composed with Christopher Chong.
