Alone in Babylon

Alone in Babylon is a 2026 creation by Stéphane Humbert Lucas, which the house presents as a contemporary oriental floral and an anti-gourmand gourmand. Tuberose and plantain banana open it on nail polish and petrol accords; castoreum and Mysore sandalwood form its heart, over vanilla, tonka bean, leather and musk.

Eleven materials and accords make up Alone in Babylon, which the house classifies among the oriental florals. It names its three tiers Fulgurance, Métamorphose and Quintessence: four top notes, three heart notes and four base notes.

Top

Tuberose and plantain banana form what the house calls an electrifying kaleidoscope. A nail polish accord and a petrol accord give them a lacquered, cosmetic sheen that contrasts with the softness expected from a gourmand.

Heart

Castoreum brings an animalic, leathery note, Mysore sandalwood a creamy roundness. Floralozone, a synthetic molecule with a watery, ozonic scent, adds an unexpected freshness.

Base

Vanilla and tonka bean, which the house describes as burnished, envelop the composition, and leather and musk give it a sensual foundation. This is the gourmand side of the fragrance, which the top and heart notes keep at a distance.

What is left out

The nail polish and petrol accords, along with floralozone, are listed as the house names them, with no equivalent among the materials catalogued here.

What the label declares

The ingredient list has twenty-nine entries. After alcohol, fragrance and water come an antioxidant and regulated allergens, including linalool, citronellol, coumarin, geraniol, eugenol and farnesol.

It also mentions ylang-ylang, sandalwood and rose oils, as well as a patchouli oil, a material the house does not cite among its notes.
