Flying Ointment

Flying Ointment is a unisex eau de parfum by Heretic Parfum, released in 2026 in a first batch of 500 numbered 100 ml bottles, sold for $350. Drawn from a house balm inspired by the flying ointments of folklore, it brings together mitti attar, guaiac wood, vetiver, patchouli, oakmoss, incense, seaweed, angelica root, cedar and clove.

Ten notes are declared for Flying Ointment, with no division into top, heart and base: mitti attar, guaiac wood, vetiver, patchouli, oakmoss, incense, seaweed, angelica root, cedar and clove. Mitti attar, an Indian distillate of baked earth, carries the scent of earth after rain.

The house evokes sacred resins, Omani incense, labdanum and copal, blended with guaiac wood into a veil of smoke and ancient ritual. Vetiver and traces of oakmoss anchor the accord in the earth.

Woods and roots dominate the list, guaiac, cedar, vetiver, patchouli and angelica, heightened by clove and a marine note of seaweed. For the original balm, Douglas Little says he chose each raw material for its history, its rituals and its uses.
