Fragonard Parfum

Between the floral greenness of a hyacinth in the top notes and the resinous wood of a cedar in the base, Fragonard Parfum draws a line that runs from the vegetal to the pencil shaving. Launched by the house Fragonard in 2018 in Parfum concentration, the composition crosses a heart of jasmine, lily of the valley and orange blossom, and falls within the floral family.

Top

Hyacinth opens the composition on a flower of pronounced greenness, with a vegetal tonality that evokes the cut stem as much as the petal. This springtime flower is often worked through reconstitution, as its natural extraction remains rare.

Heart

Three flowers make up the heart. Jasmine brings warmth and sweetness, with a wild quality characteristic of this flower rich in animalic facets. Lily of the valley plays on greenness and freshness, while orange blossom turns waxy, sweet and powdery.

Base

Cedar closes the composition with a dry wood reminiscent of pencil shavings, and with a resinous side. Its essence, distilled from the wood, anchors the flowers in a dense material.

Floral family

Classified as floral, the composition owes this classification to hyacinth, jasmine, lily of the valley and orange blossom, four flowers spread between the top and heart notes. This family gathers accords built around petals, whether they lean green, warm or powdery, three nuances present here.

Flowers on the label

The label declares hydroxycitronellal, a molecule associated with lily of the valley, and hexyl cinnamal, with a jasmine odor. Geraniol and citronellol are constituents of rose essence; linalool and terpineol recall floral facets present in neroli and lilac. Alpha-isomethyl ionone evokes powdery violet.

Wood and musk on the label

Tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalene is a woody, velvety molecule that echoes the cedar in the base. Hexamethylindanopyran is a clean, diffusive synthetic musk, and isoeugenyl acetate brings a spicy, sweet touch, close to carnation.
