Aventus Cologne

Mandarin, bergamot and pink pepper open Aventus Cologne on a sparkling, sun-kissed note, while the base brings together birch, styrax, patchouli, musk and tonka bean around leather and smoke. Composed by Olivier Creed for the house Creed in 2019, Aventus Cologne is an Eau de Parfum in the woody family, lit up with a citrus facet.

Top notes

Three notes open the composition. Mandarin brings sparkle, brightness and a sun-kissed tonality. Bergamot comes across as fruity, lightly sweet and fresh. Pink pepper, finally, adds a spicy touch tempered with sweetness, a discreet accent in the opening.

Heart notes

Five notes make up the heart. Ginger combines spice, warmth and a citrus accent; pineapple brings an exotic, succulent fruit. Pepper comes across as spicy, dry and herbaceous. Two woods complete the tier: sandalwood, velvety and warm, and vetiver, with smoky and earthy tonalities.

Base notes

The base brings together five notes. Birch evokes a warm, smoky leather. Styrax brings warmth, a leathery accent and an animalic nuance. Musk combines wood, warmth and an animalic facet. Patchouli comes across as earthy, damp and camphorous, and tonka bean offers toasted, almondy and caramelized accents.

Olfactory family

The woody family generally designates compositions built around woods and dry or smoky materials; here, sandalwood, vetiver and birch carry it. The citrus facet, characteristic of citrus fruits, comes from mandarin and bergamot, with the citrus accent of ginger.

What the label declares

The label declares limonene, linalool, citral, citronellol, benzyl salicylate, alpha-isomethyl ionone and coumarin. Limonene and citral are frequent constituents of citrus essences, such as mandarin and bergamot; linalool, present in bergamot, has a floral character. Ionone evokes violet, and coumarin, a constituent of tonka bean, recalls hay and almond.
