Sorbet

Sorbet is a frozen dessert that contains no cream, milk or egg yolk. Sorbet is made up of at least 25% fruit. It also contains water and sugar. Sometimes paired with spices or aromatics, sorbet offers an infinite range of flavors. The advantage of sorbet is that it contains very little fat, and can therefore be eaten almost without restraint. The flavors of sorbet are inexhaustible. Among the best known are strawberry, raspberry, lemon, grapefruit, pineapple, melon, lychee, passion fruit, peach, coconut and apricot.

Sorbet perfume or perfume sorbet

Surprisingly enough, sorbet is also found in perfumery! Fragrances with a sorbet flavor leave a soft, ultra gourmand sillage. These fragrances offer melting notes with a summery, vacation-like scent. Perfumers particularly enjoy using apricot, lemon, pear, grapefruit and coconut. The latter is mainly used as a base note, giving the composition a fruity, sun-kissed, milky and ultra gourmand tonality. The coconut note is obtained by extracting coconut pulp. The most commonly used sorbet notes in perfumery are grapefruit, coconut, lemon, red fruits, passion fruit and pear.

Sorbet and its olfactory pairings

Against all odds, sorbet and its various flavors are found in some very great perfumes, offering unexpected, light, fruity and gourmand scents. Sorbet notes can therefore be found in floral, fruity, gourmand or oriental perfumes, as in Apparition Sun, by Ungaro, a floral-fruity. Here, a grapefruit sorbet perfumes the senses. Placed in the top notes, it is paired with raspberry. Two other floral-fruity fragrances featuring a sorbet are Daisy Édition Sorbet by Marc Jacobs and Very Irresistible Summer Sorbet by Givenchy. Here, passion fruit sorbet is paired with grapefruit and pear. Sorbets are also found in oriental-vanilla fragrances such as Innocent Summer Flash and Angel, Eau sucrée, both by Thierry Mugler. Many sorbet notes can also be found in the summery and equally gourmand perfumes from the Escada house, such as Chiffon Sorbet.

If sorbet delights the taste buds, it also captivates the sense of smell. Indeed, whether strawberry, raspberry, passion fruit or coconut, sorbets proudly display their sweet, soft and light scents. Today, perfumers increasingly favor sorbets within great perfumes.
