The small yellow flowers of the palm tree
The palm tree is mostly known for its large green fronds swaying in the wind. However, the windmill palm, also known as the Chinese palm, the Zhoushan palm or Chamaerops Excelsa, also bears small flowers. Among the hardiest of palm trees, since it withstands temperatures as low as -18°, the windmill palm consists of a trunk several meters tall, at the top of which small yellow flowers bloom. These are hidden by its broad, fan-shaped fronds. The yellow flowers of the windmill palm form long, hanging panicles and generally appear in May. They are found only on the female specimens of this tree. Their sun-kissed color is particularly elegant. It is precisely these flowers that have inspired perfumers here.
