Coconut water

Coconut water is a fantasy note in perfumery, evoking the fresh and slightly sweet liquid found in green coconuts. It does not correspond to a raw material directly extractable for use in perfumery, but to a reconstructed accord, fresh, slightly milky and tropical. This note brings lightness and exoticism to fruity or floral compositions.

Coconut water, tropical freshness and milky lightness

Coconut water is the liquid naturally present inside the green coconut (Cocos nucifera). Slightly sweet, low in fat and very thirst-quenching, it is distinguished from coconut milk by its transparency and lightness. In perfumery, it is not subject to direct extraction usable as a raw material.

The coconut water note is therefore an olfactory reconstruction. Perfumers seek to evoke its slightly sweet and milky freshness, distinct from the creamy richness of coconut milk. To do so, they use molecules with a soft milky facet, light fruity notes and sometimes a floral or green touch to reinforce the impression of freshness.

This note is used in tropical fruity compositions, aquatic florals or light summer fragrances. It brings a sensation of freshness and exoticism without heaviness, evoking beaches and thirst-quenching drinks, and appeals in fragrances with a youthful, sun-kissed character.
