WoodyHamid Merati-Kashani
A perfumer at dsm-firmenich, which he joined thirty years ago, Hamid Merati-Kashani is behind much of the Parfums de Marly range: Pegasus, Layton, Percival, Sedley, Oriana, Althaïr. He also composes for Amouage, Initio and Goldfield & Banks, and says he likes combining materials rarely brought together, in the manner of the Middle East.
Firmenich
Thirty years after joining dsm-firmenich, Hamid Merati-Kashani has some fifteen years of creation in fine fragrance. He says he combines ingredients rarely used together, a practice specific to the Middle East, whose perfumery revival he observes, and claims a style that brings together East and West.
Parfums de Marly
For Parfums de Marly, he created Pegasus in 2011, Layton in 2016, one of his great successes, with their Exclusif versions, Percival in 2018, Sedley in 2019, Oriana in 2021 and Althaïr in 2023, the last with Ilias Ermenidis. Percival is presented as the house's first marine fragrance.
Sedley, co-created with Olivier Cresp, contrasts hot and cold in a transparent bottle: bergamot, spearmint and an aquatic accord in the top, geranium, lavandin and pine in the heart, sandalwood, white musk and incense in the base, around a fresh note, Hivernal Neo. Founder Julien Sprecher wanted it to set opposing concepts in dialogue.
Beyond Marly
He also created Opus XV King Blue for Amouage, Mystic Experience for Initio and Ingenious Ginger for Goldfield & Banks, and composes for niche houses and major brands alike, from the Middle East to Australia.
