Blonde Amber

Classed among the ambers, Blonde Amber relies on a base where labdanum, myrrh, vanilla and tonka bean bring balsamic, caramel and sweet warmth. At Clive Christian, Blonde Amber opens on citrus and spices, with bitter orange, grapefruit, cardamom and ginger, before a floral and honeyed heart tier built around tuberose, osmanthus and tobacco.

Top

Bitter orange opens on a floral and woody bitterness, bergamot on a sweet and fresh fruit, grapefruit on a sharp citrus. Rum evokes cinnamon, ginger and vanilla; cardamom combines spice and freshness, ginger a lemony warmth. Olibanum, woody and mineral, and pink pepper, peppery and anise-like, complete the opening.

Heart

Tobacco brings honey, almond and wax. Sandalwood becomes velvety and warm, saffron spicy with accents of leather and tar. Tuberose plays on cream and honeyed wax, osmanthus on a velvety sweetness. Jasmine comes across as sweet, warm and wild, iris powdery, buttery, tinged with violet.

Base

Vanilla, myrrh and labdanum compose a balsamic and sweet base, with hints of caramel and amber. Patchouli adds damp earth and camphor, vetiver a woody smokiness. Musk combines wood, warmth and an animalic touch; tonka bean evokes toasted almond and caramel, incense wax, camphor and spices.

Amber family

Classed as amber, Blonde Amber anchors this family in its base: labdanum, a warm resin with amber nuances, is a classic pillar of it, supported by vanilla, tonka bean and myrrh. This register of balsams and sweet resins finds an echo in the olibanum of the top and the incense of the base.

Molecules on the label

Limonene and citral are common constituents of citrus peels, echoing the bitter orange and grapefruit. Linalool is abundant in bergamot, geraniol in floral essences. Coumarin recalls tonka bean, eugenol clove, cinnamal the cinnamon evoked by rum; benzyl benzoate frequently accompanies balsamic notes.
