Linden blossom, subtle and light notes

Delicate and light, linden blossom gives off fragrances in its own image. Its notes are very subtle, resembling honey. Linden blossom notes embody nature, true nature in all its springlike and innocent offerings. Discreet, linden blossom is often used in eaux de Cologne. In fine perfumery, it is mainly positioned as a top note, or sometimes as a heart note as in the perfume “Aroma Allegoria (Aromaparfum apaisant)” by Guerlain. Here, linden blossom is accompanied by chamomile, but also mimosa and ylang-ylang. Vanilla and powdery notes at the end enhance the soft sillage left by linden blossom… An infinite softness. Another floral perfume where linden blossom generously lends its softness is “Eau du ciel” by Annick Goutal. This perfume is a melody of tender scents.

Can linden blossom be combined with other fragrances?

Owing to its softness and lightness, linden blossom pairs perfectly well with floral notes… Rose is a tender flower that blends wonderfully with the natural character of linden blossom. However, linden blossom can also be found in citrus compositions, as is the case for the perfume “Eau d’orange Douce” by Hermès. Here, it is more precisely linden leaves that are used, as a heart note, where they are paired with orange and mandarin. The base is adorned with precious woods, with cedarwood, patchouli and sandalwood, which lend a chic and sensual aspect. Softness and freshness, a fleeting pleasure to be enjoyed without restraint… Linden blossom can also be found paired with “woody musk” notes, as in “Extrait de Songe” by l’Artisan Parfumeur. Here, linden blossom is positioned as a heart note, accompanied by orange blossom. “Extrait de Songe” is a perfume that evokes a summer dusk, with all its colors.

Linden blossom is a beautiful tree, tall and majestic, notably thanks to its silvery leaves. Linden blossom is mainly used as an infusion. In perfumery, linden blossom offers subtle, soft and light notes. It also has a fragrance reminiscent of honey. Thanks to this softness, linden blossom is mainly incorporated into floral or citrus perfumes. It is true that linden blossom is not widely used in fine perfumery. As a result, it is hard to find it paired with other olfactory families.
