Praline

Praline is a candy made of an almond covered with sugar. This candy is then tinted and scented. Praline was created in 1649. A specialty of Montargis, praline is nowadays widely used in pastry making. Pink praline, often found as a candy, is derived from brown praline. In perfumery, praline emerged with the arrival of gourmand fragrances. To recreate the praline note, perfumery relies on a creative blend of natural raw materials and synthetic material.

Praline, a note that is more than gourmand

Praline is found mainly in gourmand and feminine fragrances. The latter currently enjoy enormous success, since it is observed that out of 10 perfumes sold, 6 are gourmand fragrances. Notes derived from praline are mouth-watering. The praline note offers a fragrance that oscillates between toasted sugar, almond and hazelnut. These are scents that are immediately likeable. The fragrances of the praline note instinctively remind us of the sweets of our childhood. Praline, like other notes derived from confectionery, then acts as an olfactory comfort blanket. Praline and its pairing with other olfactory fragrances

Like all gourmand notes, praline pairs wonderfully well with confectionery notes such as chocolate, caramel and especially vanilla, as in La vie est Belle by Lancôme. Positioned here as a base note, praline is paired with vanilla, patchouli and tonka bean. Built around iris, La vie est Belle is an ode to happiness. Here, the woman is smiling, free and gourmand. Again positioned as a base note, praline is accompanied by sandalwood and white musks. As for the fruits, one discovers a beautiful blend of strawberry, raspberry, mandarin, lemon and grapefruit.
