Ozone

Ozone is a naturally occurring blue gas composed of three oxygen atoms. It is present in the atmosphere, mainly in the lower layers. Ozone forms through the reaction of polluting gases (such as nitrogen dioxide) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), under the influence of ultraviolet rays. This is why people refer to “good ozone” or “bad ozone”.

The latter, called tropospheric ozone, is generated by pollution. In perfumery, the ozone note is used to bring a crystalline freshness. The ozone note, light and airy, is an accord recreated through the combination of several synthetic molecules.

The ozone note, a note that floats in space

Ozone is a natural gas but it has a very strong odor. Since ozone is present in the atmosphere, it can be described as something very airy, light, like a cloud. It is mainly this note that interests perfumers. The natural smell of ozone is that of a fresh, clean, aquatic, even chlorinated sensation.
