Cucumber

Cucumber: A lovely refreshing vegetable for our summer fragrances! Cucumber was discovered over 3,000 years ago in the highlands of the Himalayas! Brought back to France thanks to Charlemagne, it was first eaten, and its beneficial effects on the skin were discovered somewhat later. Today cucumber is famous in cosmetics, which does not prevent it from being just as prominent among the raw materials used in perfumery, particularly for summer collections!

Cucumber has been known since time immemorial for its cosmetic virtues

As early as the 18th century, although brought back by Charlemagne not long before, cucumber was among the beauty remedies used by the ladies of the time to brighten the complexion. Indeed, cucumber, cut into slices at the time and now reduced into a pulp concentrate today, is a powerful natural remedy in dermatology.

Cucumber possesses highly hydrating and revitalizing virtues for the skin thanks to its vitamins, which activate cell regeneration. Thus the cucumber mask and many other cosmetic products made this lovely Asian cucurbit an indispensable product in cosmetics for dull or tired skin.

Moreover, cucumber exudes a fresh and very green scent. Perfumery and its summer waters quickly used the cucumber note to bring freshness and green notes to fragrances mainly feminine or unisex.

The cucumber note in perfumery to refresh summer fragrances!

The cucumber note is particularly known for being a staple of the CK One summer waters by Calvin Klein. Indeed, the Ck One Summer editions brilliantly showcase the green and tender facets of cucumber.

Sometimes in the top notes, sometimes in the heart notes, the CK One Summer series associates cucumber almost systematically with its compositions. In Ck One summer 2008, cucumber appears in the heart note of the aromatic citrus accord paired with bergamot and fresh mint. In its successor, Ck One summer 2009, the cucumber note is part of the top notes alongside accords of mint, bergamot and lemon.

However, while Calvin Klein seems to have been particularly taken with the cucumber note, it should not be forgotten that it is also found in great floral feminine juices such as Ralph Cool by Ralph Lauren, as well as in woody masculine fragrances such as Aramis Life by Aramis.
