FloralThe beginnings of Coach New-York
Coach New-York is a brand that came into being in 1941, in a loft in Manhattan. It was there that a team of six artisans began crafting cigar cases, cufflinks and all sorts of accessories for men. Everything was then overseen by a couple, Miles and Lilian Cahn. However, it was a little later that they achieved success, when they came up with the idea of developing a one-of-a-kind tanning technique. They used the leather from baseball gloves to make bags. Very quickly, the quality of their products drew attention. Moreover, the leather from these gloves is known for its extreme softness and its unwavering resistance. Furthermore, the weathered look of their creations did not fail to win over the public. From that day on, Coach New-York established a sportswear look within the world of luxury. The house's expertise thus kept growing until it extended to womenswear in 1961. Moreover, Coach New-York was then led by Bonnie Cashin, an emblematic figure of American ready-to-wear. She dared to add vibrant printed models to the existing range, both functional and deceptively casual. Among the most famous lines produced by Coach New-York, the Cashin Carry collection met with resounding success. Likewise, the Duffel Bag of the 70s, a sort of bucket-shaped bag, is today considered a timeless classic.
Coach New-York today
Having built particularly solid foundations, Coach New-York has thus extended its renown around the world. Also, as the house celebrated its 75th anniversary, it took the opportunity to move into France. As such, a store has just opened in the heart of Paris, at the center of the Triangle d'Or. It spans no less than 600 m² built in a typically American style. Glass brick walls, tiles reminiscent of those in the New York subway, a mahogany staircase… Everything is designed to transport visitors directly to the heart of New York City. The whole is both clean-lined and minimalist, for a distinctly urban and contemporary result. At the same time, Coach New-York also signed a partnership with Interparfums, which allowed it to develop its very first fragrance. It is simply named after the house and comes with a shower gel and a body lotion.
So, for lack of being able to offer a round-trip ticket to New York, how about going shopping straight from Times Square without ever leaving our beautiful capital?
