William Fraysse: perfumery, a family story Perfumery is not a profession like any other. It is an art form in its own right, resulting above all from an extreme passion for scents. Consequently, it is a craft that is often passed down from generation to generation. A good number of today's perfumers acquired their expertise from relatives who also worked in this field. William Fraysse is no exception to this great tradition of perfumery. He comes from a great family of perfumers, whose renown extends far beyond the borders of France. William Fraysse is indeed the grandson of André Fraysse, the celebrated creator of Lanvin's Arpège. He is also the son of Richard Fraysse, a perfumer inseparable from the house of Caron since 1998. As will be understood, from his earliest years, his future seemed already mapped out.

It was at the age of nine that William Fraysse created his first perfume sketches, even presenting a report on the subject to his class. Year after year, his passion for scents has only grown. William Fraysse's expertise is above all a story of transmission and inheritance, one that already promises to continue: William Fraysse readily admits to passing on his passion to his four-year-old son, who already enjoys commenting on the scents around him with a child's naive words.

William Fraysse's rise

William Fraysse worked for a long time in the shadow of his father, whom he considers his mentor. This time spent alongside him meant he learned everything before fully coming into his own and flying with his own wings. Since 2016, William Fraysse has succeeded him in the workshops of the house of Caron, after having signed his very first solo creation in 2015: Pour Un Homme Sport, a reinterpretation of a cult Caron essence.

If William Fraysse chose to work with the house of Caron, it was not solely to follow in his father's footsteps. Indeed, he states that he fully identifies with this luxury house specializing in Haute Parfumerie since 1904. Caron is not a house that lets itself be guided by a frantic pace of creation. Caron likes to take its time to craft unique essences. For William Fraysse, perfumery is an art that requires patience. Caron allows him to express himself fully and imposes no constraints on his creation, whether in the choice of his raw materials or in the register explored. Caron is more than clear on this subject and does not want to hold back what is possible in order to create the unexpected. In his compositions, William Fraysse does not hesitate to transport people into his world, often greatly inspired by travel. This reserved man with a very calm demeanor can never mask the spark in his eyes when he speaks of his greatest passion: perfumery.
