Rosendo Mateu
Puig is an international company dedicated to the perfume, cosmetics and fashion sector. It attracted a great deal of attention in 2016, notably for its acquisition of the Jean-Paul Gaultier brand. Originally, it was a company founded in 1914 in Barcelona, Spain. Also, true to its origins, it has collaborated with the greatest Spanish perfumers, and notably with Rosendo Mateu. The perfectionism of Rosendo Mateu Rosendo Mateu has practiced the profession of perfumer for 40 years. For years he was one of the favorite noses of the company Puig, a true giant of the perfume world. Recognized for his perfectionism and his very personal signature, he developed dozens of fragrances there.
Moreover, he has always known how to respond to the specific demands of the market for commercial purposes while combining them with his personal touch and his own creativity. He has thus worked for the greatest international luxury brands, always responding with great precision to their expectations. Nevertheless, in parallel, he has also developed bespoke fragrances as well as what he calls historical essences. Indeed, Rosendo Mateu is a fervent admirer of history. As such, he has studied extensively the history of Greek Civilization and the Roman Empire while turning them into genuine sources of inspiration for his creations. Similarly, he dared to take up the challenge of designing a fragrance specially dedicated to an exhibition on an English painter. To do so, he spent entire months studying the smell of canvases and paintings, of the dampness working directly into the material. His level of involvement in each of his works has thus always amazed his peers and has greatly contributed to his renown.
Rosendo Mateu's personal brand
Eager to push his expertise ever further, Rosendo Mateu decided, in 2010, to take on his greatest creative challenge yet: developing fragrances under his own label. Thus, in 2015, he released four fragrances bearing his name. These are unisex juices in which Rosendo Mateu became particularly involved, both in terms of scent and in terms of design. Each of these juices is built around three major ingredients. The first contains Bergamot, Tea and Sandalwood. The second is built around Lavender, spices and Chocolate. The third releases a breath of Neroli, Iris and white Musk. Finally, the last releases Vanilla, Saffron and Oud wood. All of it proves highly inventive but remains nonetheless particularly harmonious. As always with Rosendo Mateu, they are the result of colossal work.
