Jean-Marc Chaillan

Perfumery is a sector that is both very vast and quite a closed universe. Indeed, although perfumery is an ancestral art and bottles are now sold across the entire planet, only a privileged few manage to become perfumers. Moreover, the latter almost all come from the same region of the globe. The majority of perfumers were born or studied in Grasse, the world capital of perfumery. Thus, Jean-Marc Chaillan is no exception to the rule.

The clearly mapped path of Jean-Marc Chaillan

Jean-Marc Chaillan is currently a highly renowned perfumer. While he managed to reach the very top of his art, it should be noted that he had good cards in hand from the start to get there. Indeed, he comes from a line of perfumers and grew up in the city of Grasse. Jean-Marc Chaillan is the son of the famous perfumer and industry director Raymond Chaillan. Thus, from a very young age, Jean-Marc Chaillan would go to his father's company. He would hear him speak of his love for his craft and benefited from constant contact with fragrances. From then on, the working of odorous raw materials became almost ingrained in his DNA. Eager to follow in his father's footsteps, he joined one of the most prestigious perfumery schools on the planet: ISIPCA in Versailles. Once he had earned his degree, he worked in collaboration with his father. This is how his long career as a perfumer began.

The professional path of Jean-Marc Chaillan

Jean-Marc Chaillan began his career collaborating with the company J&E Sozio, a house founded in Grasse in 1758. It designs scented products for highly diverse sectors such as perfumery, cosmetics, home fragrances, or detergent products. Currently, it is a key player in the fragrance composition market. Nevertheless, Jean-Marc Chaillan chose to move toward another major player in the world of perfumery: IFF. It must be said that this company's renown precedes it. IFF, also known as International Flavors and Fragrances, is an international company manufacturing fragrances for the perfumery world as well as flavors for the food industry. It is currently the third-largest company in its sector in terms of revenue, just behind Givaudan. As its headquarters are based in New York, Jean-Marc Chaillan had the opportunity to work on the other side of the Atlantic. However, he also traveled to other subsidiaries of the group, such as the one located in Brazil. Currently, Jean-Marc Chaillan has become the vice president of this company. He has an incalculable number of collaborations with the biggest brands to his credit. Jean-Marc Chaillan notably crafted the entire Euphoria range for Calvin Klein. He has also worked with Michael Kors, Hugo Boss, Élisabeth Arden, and Agent Provocateur, to name just a few.
