Orcanox
Orcanox, the equivalent of ambrox or Ambroxan, is one of the main constituents of ambergris-based fragrances. Orcanox is reproduced synthetically in the laboratory and used exclusively by the Mane laboratory. In perfumery, orcanox gives off sensual, even animalic, warm and captivating tonalities. The Orcanox molecule belongs to the amber woods, materials that are increasingly favored by noses. Orcanox is a powerful and intense note, in which the dry and tobacco-like facet of ambergris can also be found. Also described as woods that sting, amber woods integrate perfectly well into oriental fragrances, as a base note.
Orcanox, originally the Mane laboratory
The Mane laboratory is above all a family company. The leading French company in the fragrance and flavor industry, Mane is at once creator, manufacturer and producer of flavors and fragrances. Founded in 1871, the Mane laboratory is currently run by Jean Mane, who represents the fourth family generation. The Mane company is recognized worldwide for the quality of its raw materials. Orcanox is the equivalent of Ambroxan, which itself replaces ambergris, since sperm whale hunting has been banned. This is why orcanox is a rare and precious raw material, having become indispensable to oriental compositions.
The scent of orcanox and its olfactory pairing
Orcanox offers powerful tonalities and integrates just as well into feminine as into masculine fragrances. Amber woods reinforce oriental and gourmand sillages, as well as floral sillages, mainly that of white flowers. Amber woods are thought of more in relation to ambergris than to an amber accord. This is why they always leave sensual and captivating trails. Orcanox can be found in very fine compositions, such as Si, Armani's great success, where orcanox sits in the base note alongside amber and blond wood for a sensuality pushed to its peak. Orcanox is also found in mixed fragrances such as Noir Premier, Terres Aromatiques 1905 by Lalique, where orcanox is positioned in the base note alongside tonka bean and vetiver. Orcanox can also be found within masculine compositions, such as in Bentley for Men Azure by Bentley, a sensual and virile fragrance where orcanox is again positioned in the base note alongside tonka bean and cashmere wood.
