Contribute to the encyclopedia
Is a perfume missing from Olfastory? Suggest it. You flag it, we check it against our sources, and the editors write the page: nothing you send is published as is.
The four steps
- Submission — You fill in the form: photo of the bottle, brand, name, concentration, target and launch year.
- Checking — We check whether the perfume is already in the encyclopedia and confirm each detail with two independent sources.
- Moderation — The suggestion is accepted, or declined with a reason, usually within seven days.
- Publication — The editors write and publish the page; your points are credited at that moment.
Points
- Published suggestion: 30 points.
- Bottle photo used: 10 points.
- Each extra detail confirmed (perfumer, family, top, heart and base notes, link): 5 points.
- Correction made after a report: 10 points.
Game points have no monetary value. They are credited on publication, never on submission.
Why a suggestion may be declined
- The perfume is already in the encyclopedia, or in preparation.
- Its details can’t be confirmed with two sources.
- The photo is blurry, cropped or doesn’t show the whole bottle.
- It isn’t a perfume (skincare, candle, gift set alone).
Report an error or a gap
A note, a year, a perfumer or a concentration looks wrong, or is missing from a perfume page? The “Report it” link is in the community section of every perfume page. If two sources prove you right, the page is corrected and you get 10 points.
For members with a verified email address, up to 5 submissions a day, suggestions and reports included.
