The history of the Agent Provocateur brand

Agent Provocateur is a British house that was created in 1994. It was born from the ambition of a couple, Joseph Corré and Serena Rees. Agent Provocateur's very first boutique was set up in the heart of Soho, in London, at 6 Broadwick Street. From then on, the small London shop quickly made a name for itself. It must be said that Joseph is the son of a particularly renowned English designer: Vivienne Westwood. It seems he inherited his mother's rock 'n' roll character. Indeed, the name of his house suits it particularly well. Agent Provocateur is synonymous with luxury, seduction, and even arrogance. The house's renown developed in no time. The years following the house's creation were marked by considerable growth through the opening of several boutiques around the world. Among them, many opened in Switzerland, New York, and Moscow, enough to warm up Siberia's freezing winters! Generally speaking, Agent Provocateur is recognized by its use of black and pink. At present, the house has also expanded its original range. It no longer limits itself to offering classic lingerie pieces; it also sells all sorts of complementary accessories such as gloves, riding crops, shoes, handcuffs, masks, household linens, and now fragrances… As you will have understood, the latter clearly plays the card of sensuality!

The image of the Agent Provocateur house

An avant-garde brand, Agent Provocateur made its appearance well before the porno chic trend of the 2000s. The house is famous for its seductive, sexy image and its provocative advertisements. According to Kylie Minogue, Agent Provocateur is the most erotic lingerie in the world. Its credo rests on raising the temperature by undressing the most beautiful girls in the world. At the same time, it should be noted that Agent Provocateur is not without humor either. The image of its boutiques draws heavily on the world of 1950s pin-ups or that of 1930s and 1940s boudoirs. Add to that a slightly S&M tendency, a touch of decadence, a hint of trash, and you get an image close to that of Agent Provocateur. While this may seem daring on paper, it clearly proves just as appealing. One need only look at the number of stars flocking to this brand's door, such as Kate Moss, Vahina Giocante, Dita Von Teese, or Carmen Electra, to name but a few.
